UIC HOSTS CHICAGO DISTANCE CLASSIC, CHICAGO'S OLDEST RACE

WHAT:

The University of Illinois at Chicago in partnership with the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago presents the 24th Annual Chicago Distance Classic, the oldest race in Chicago.

PHOTO OP:

More than 6,000 participants are expected to take to the streets to help fight lung disease.

WHEN:

Sunday, July 9
Run: 20K / 7:45 a.m.; 5K / 8 a.m.
Walk: 5-mile Walk for Healthy Lungs / 8:05 a.m.

WHERE:

Halsted and Harrison Streets (800 West - 600 South)

DETAILS:

The race, which begins and ends at the corner of Halsted and Harrison Streets takes runners and walkers through some of Chicago's greatest areas and neighborhoods including Greek Town, Little Italy, the Loop, the Museum Campus, the Riverwalk and Monroe Harbor.

The Chicago Distance Classic is the oldest race in Chicago and includes a 20K run, a 5K run and a 5-mile Walk for Healthy Lungs.

Proceeds from the Chicago Distance Classic, raised through pledges by the runners, support the lung association and the work of UIC researchers.
