with the nationwide Engineers Week Conference will host the following
events:
PHOTO OPS:
Mechanical
Toy Contest: Wearing yellow hard hats and avoiding orange cones,
UIC students, faculty and staff attempt to beat the clock while moving
blocks across a simulated construction site using mechanical toys
and trucks. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 12 - 3 p.m., Chicago Circle Center,
Pier room, 750 Halsted St.
Tinker Toy
Bridge-Building Contest: UIC students will apply their engineering
know-how by building weight-bearing tinker toy bridges for prizes,
Wednesday, Feb. 23, 11 - 2 p. m., Chicago Circle Center, Pier
room, 750 Halsted St.

Distinguished
Lectures Series -- E-Week Keynote Speaker
Dr. George Bugliarello, chancellor of the Polytechnic Institute
and distinguished lecturer, will be UIC's E-Week keynote speaker,
Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m., Chicago Circle Center, Cardinal room,

CAVE Tours
Tours showcasing the latest visualization and art applications in
a virtual reality environment, are available to reporters Thursday,
Feb. 24, 9:30 - 4:30 p.m., engineering research facility, 842 W. Taylor

Week Luncheon
James Stukel, UIC president, will be the keynote speaker, with the
Washington Award being presented to Donna Shirley of Mars Exploration
Program. Gov. George W. Ryan and Mayor Richard M. Daley are invited
to attend. Friday, Feb. 25, 12 - 1:30 p.m., Palmer House Hilton Hotel

Engineers Week is to draw political leaders' attention to the engineering
profession and broaden engineers' involvement in the political process
of shaping America in the Information Age.
