Asthma affects
an estimated 15 million people in the United States, 5 million of
whom are children. While asthma kills 5,000 people a year, most of
these deaths can be prevented.
The Chicago Health
Corps is an AmeriCorps program
jointly operated by the UIC College of Nursing and the Illinois Health
Education Consortium. Its aim is to increase access to primary health
care services in medically underserved communities.
