ANTHROPOLOGY STUDENTS TO BUILD "DAY OF THE DEAD" ALTAR

WHO/WHAT:

University of Illinois at Chicago students will construct an elaborately decorated altar to|welcome, celebrate and honor the spirits of the deceased on the annual "Day of the Dead," an important religious event celebrated in Mexico. The construction is a project in the course "The Ethnography of Mesoamerica," taught by anthropology instructor Maria Aviles. The altar will remain in place for one week.
