FACULTY BOOKS ON DISPLAY IN UIC LIBRARY

The University of Illinois at Chicago's faculty are a prolific and well-published bunch. Their works are part of a new book exhibit in the reference department of UIC's Richard J. Daley Library at 801 S. Morgan St.

Through September, select publications by UIC professors from the social science, humanities, education, business and library disciplines will be on display.

"The criteria for the display were simply a case of contacting a number of departments as well as getting suggestions from some colleagues at the library," said reference librarian Peter Hepburn, who is responsible for the exhibit. "I decided to stick with monographs from 1999 onwards, although there was a real wealth of journal publications to choose from."

A search of faculty names in the card catalog yielded more candidates.

"The display only contains a fraction of the publishing output of UIC faculty," said Hepburn. "Space limitations held down the numbers of books used. In the end, I think the selection shows a good cross section of UIC publications."

The book display case changes monthly. Past themes have included gay pride on campus, resources in sports and physical education, National Seafood Month, and resources by and about Canadians.
