"Transition Services for Foster Care Youth: A Foundation and a Youth Perspective."UIC's Jane Addams College of Social Work hosts the seventh annual Karen Honig Memorial Lecture. The annual lectures focus on issues relevant to the needs of high-risk urban youth and improving social services for poor children and their families.

"Karen Honig was a strong, proactive, tireless person who consistently gave of herself for the things she believed in," said Creasie Finney Hairston, dean of the Jane Addams College of Social Work. "Family and friends established the memorial lecture in 1992 to honor her memory and to focus upon the commitment she had to inner-city children."
