NEW DIRECTOR JOINS UIC'S TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Daniel Marselle has joined the University of Illinois at Chicago's Office of Technology Management as director of pharmacy intellectual property. His appointment reflects the growing commitment of the university and the College of Pharmacy to technology development and marketing.

Marselle serves as the UIC College of Pharmacy's contact person for both internal and external matters regarding technology transfer. He also manages the college's portfolio of existing inventions and new disclosures, coordinates patent applications and assists with licensing and technology development.

Before joining UIC, Marselle was director of professional partnering and special projects for Searle (now Pharmacia), where he focused on convention planning, advocate development, physician marketing and medical communications strategies using continuing medical education-accredited symposia, promotional events, advisory boards and online media.

He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society.
