UIC NAMES PHI BETA KAPPAS The University of Illinois at Chicago's Iota of Illinois chapter of Phi Beta Kappa initiated 52 new members on April 16. The guest speaker was Richard Franke, a Yale Phi Beta Kappa graduate, now the retired chairman and CEO of John Nuveen & Co., Inc. Among the new UIC Phi Beta Kappa members are: Arlington
Heights-Sally Klasen; Tanvi Shah Members were selected from among the top three percent of UIC students who were within 30 credit hours of graduation or who had graduated after the spring 2000 semester. Selection was based on grade point average of at least 4.75 on a 5.0 scale and depth and breadth of course work. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Iota of Illinois Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at UIC. Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest academic honor society in the United States. - UIC - |
